Relationships
Relationships are at the heart of living. Yet despite that—or maybe because of it—they often generate the most distress, angst, and conflict in life. Relationship issues may include:
Arguments with your romantic partner, or repeated failed relationships.
Complex family issues (childhood through the present), often involving parents.
Difficulty making friends and/or building community in adulthood.
No relationship is perfect. But there are ways to improve them.
Sometimes it’s about learning our own triggers and patterns—often through an understanding of our attachment style. Do we withdraw from others or become passive-aggressive amidst conflict? Alternatively, do we become anxious and ‘clingy’ when we feel hurt or think others are pulling away?
Once we understand our own tendencies, counseling empowers us to respond in new and better ways through things like: asserting our needs, drawing firmer boundaries, navigating our emotions, and communicating more effectively.
Set up a consult or appointment to learn how therapy helps us untangle ‘our stuff’ and engage others in ways that promote happier, healthier relationships.
Please note, at this time we do not provide couples counseling, but do work with individuals to improve their relationships.
